You may have some questions about our process or how Business Catalyst can benefit you. Check out the Frequently Asked Questions for a jump start on getting all the answers you need.
- What is Business Catalyst?
Business Catalyst is a flexible CMS system that includes all the extras you would ever need. You can create custom designed wesites that are easy to manage and update with powerful modules and web applications that keep things running smoothly. Business Catalyst combines several systems into one powerful tool. BC creates more than just a website, it creates a complete online business, fully loaded with e-commerce and powerul reporting functionalities to track exactly how your customers are interacting. A built-in CRM allows clients to maintain a close customer relationship, while email marketing keeps everyone on the same page.
- Can I use my own web address/URL?
Yes. You can use your own web address, also called a URL or domain name. You can either redelegate your domain and use the Business Catalyst DNS servers or you can create an A-Record in your existing DNS service to point your domain to your new site at Business Catalyst - it's up to you.
- Do I need to know programming or HTML to add content to my web pages?
Adobe Business Catalyst enables us to build powerful Online Businesses for our clients. One of these features is fool-proof of most of the content. We design your site so that most of the dynamic content is contained in easy-to-edit "web-apps" that you edit by simply filling out a form. The programming uses standard HTML and CSS so it is "open" but will require a basic understanding of HTML and CSS. Or let us help you.
- How easy is BC to use?
One of the best things about this content management system is the ease of use. It is far easier to use than many other CMSs, but still extremely powerful.
- How is Business Catalyst an all-in-one platform?
When you log in, you'll be able to immediately access your contact database, orders, web form submissions, products and catalogues, web pages and email marketing campaigns from one central location. Furthermore, all of those functions are built to work together from the ground up!
- How is Business Catalyst like web hosting?
- How reliable is BC?
System reliability is non-issue because all of the Adobe Business Catalyst data centers are located inTier 4 data center facilities. This means that all of the facilities that house the servers have:
- Multiple cooling and power distribution paths for stable systems
- Multiple active power distribution paths to prevent down time from blackouts
- Redundant components for fault tolerance
- High connectivity and power into our machines
All of the Business Catalyst data center facilities are connected to the net via Tier 1 networks, or have peering arrangements with Tier 1 networks. This means that the servers are essentially hooked in to the "backbone" of the internet, which generally results in higher network speeds and lower latency from your customer's browser to our servers. And on top of all that Adobe Business Catalyst provides a 99.98% uptime service level agreement.
- How restrictive on design is Business Catalyst?
You probably know the inherent problems behind many Open Source CMSs; often being more vulnerable because essential security patches are often not updated (for various reasons), often not regularly backed up and can rely on third party plug-ins which can have their own security and compliance issues.
On the other end of the scale there are Proprietary CMSs, solely owned and operated by the web design company. This has its own problems; software is often sorely outdated because of limited resources, updates and changes are expensive, and you are at the mercy of the CMS developers. If they disappear, so does your websites backbone.
Business Catalyst is owned by Adobe - one of the largest software companies in the world. Your website is centrally hosted on secure Adobe Cloud Based Servers and is backed up daily. With your new SWS website, you control the designs, the templates, the code, the databases and all other content. Adobe simply own the back-end functionality for which you pay a yearly license fee, just like any other well know 'Software as a Service' company. Your site is fully transferable to other Adobe Partners & Resellers, and you never need to worry about hosting, security and daily backups.
- What about Search Engines?
Some CMSs can harm search engine optimisation (SEO), but not Adobe Business Catalyst. With expert knowledge of search engines, hand coded structure, full W3C Web Standards, fully customizable website page addresses and the most powerful CMS in its market—your search engine criteria are well covered. In-fact the system even sends a daily update to the search engines to update their databases with fresh content.
- What is a web app and how can I use it on my client projects?
Web Apps may not mean too much now, but this powerful functionality give us the building blocks to create fully customised functionality for your website or online business. The end result—less development time for you and more functionality for your budget.
